Making a Harlequin lace collar

First I cut out 7 arrow shapes like this one (each one is about 8cm at its widest and 15cm at its longest point)

I hemmed them with a basic blanket stitch

For the main body of the collar I cut a rectangle 40cm by 20cm.
I then lined up the arrow shapes along the main rectangle so they overlapped. After pinning them into place I cheated and used the sewing machine to sew it all together.

Finishing touches…
I added a bead at the bottom of each spoke (that’s not the right word but can’t think of a better one) to weigh them down slightly and give them the right shape.
Then I gathered the collar at four points to create a kind of ruche effect.

And finally sewed on the button, making a clasp-type thing out of some ribbon.

DONE.
